Historic Texas Town Furniture Care
Weathersby Guild proudly serves Seguin, the historic Guadalupe River town. Known for its beautiful downtown square, German heritage, and pecan industry, Seguin has diverse furniture restoration needs from historic antiques to lakefront properties. We serve Seguin from our San Antonio location with free pickup and delivery.
Seguin is the Guadalupe County seat, built along the Guadalupe River about 35 miles east of San Antonio. The historic district around the courthouse and Texas Lutheran University holds some of the oldest surviving Texas Hill Country architecture — Sebastopol House (1856), the Magnolia Hotel, and dozens of 19th-century homes. Many of our Seguin customers come from longtime Guadalupe County families with genuine pre-Civil-War heirlooms: hand-built pine cupboards, rope-strung beds, blanket chests, and German immigrant furniture passed through five generations.
Seguin's defining work is genuine antique restoration — pieces with documented family provenance going back to the 1840s and 1850s, where the goal is stabilization and conservation rather than refinishing. The Guadalupe River flooded historically (and the 2002 flood is still talked about); we see riverbank-property pieces that survived but need follow-up structural work. Pecan-tree pollen and sap from Seguin's massive pecan canopy is a quirky regional issue — it stains finishes on patio-adjacent pieces in a way that wipes don't fix.

Seguin restoration costs depend on the furniture type and damage. This historic Guadalupe River town has many antique pieces from the 1800s alongside lakefront furniture from Lake McQueeney that each require different approaches. Yes, we offer free pickup and delivery throughout Seguin and Guadalupe County, including Lake McQueeney, Kingsbury, Geronimo, and the historic downtown area. Seguin is about 35 minutes east of our San Antonio shop along I-10, making it very accessible.
Seguin's most common needs include Guadalupe River flood damage restoration, historic downtown furniture preservation for the city's many 1800s-era buildings, lakefront furniture restoration for Lake McQueeney properties, antique refinishing, mold remediation from river humidity, and fire damage repair. We also serve the area's pecan industry commercial properties.
Timelines for Seguin projects depend on the scope of work and our current workload. Historic furniture restoration for the city's antique pieces may take longer due to the need for period-appropriate techniques and materials. Guadalupe River flood damage requires proper drying before restoration begins. Call (210) 251-3019 for an estimate.
“Great job in refinishing our chairs and repairing a broken one! Craftsmanship was top quality. Finished products were beyond our expectations! Seats not finished originally by manufacturer. The craftsmen from Weathersby Guild immediately saw the problem, suggested a best way to restore them. The end result were chairs better than what was expected. Our broken chair was restored to as good as new condition. Can’t tell it was ever damaged. Very professional, easy to communicate with, high quality work, completed when promised. Would recommend to others. Thx”

“I cannot give a high enough review for Weathersby Guild San Antonio-Austin. Michael was amazing to work with. I had a 30 year-old Bernhardt bedroom set that was real wood and stained espresso brown. I wanted a specific Sherwin-Williams color for it to be painted. They were timely and professional. When they picked up my bed set they confirmed exactly the color that I wanted, and they had the bed ready to deliver back to me exactly on the day and time committed. They went above and beyond and ensuring that there were no seams or any imperfections. Excellent work and communication - so happy!!”
