Weathersby Guild serves Austin from our San Antonio workshop with weekly Austin pickup and delivery routes covering the full metro — Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Lakeway, Westlake Hills, Pflugerville, Bee Cave, Dripping Springs, Bastrop, Kyle, and Georgetown. Send photos for a free estimate, we pick up on our weekly Austin route, restore in our 6,000+ sq ft workshop, and white-glove deliver back. No mobile shop shortcuts — just a real workshop with proper finishing booths.
Weathersby Guild proudly serves Austin and the greater metro area with professional furniture restoration services. Austin's tech industry boom means we regularly restore modern office furniture, executive desks, and conference room pieces alongside heirloom antiques. We serve Austin from our San Antonio workshop with weekly pickup and delivery covering all of Austin metro.
We get this question a lot from Austin clients: “Why not just open an Austin location?” The honest answer is that proper furniture restoration requires more space and equipment than makes sense to duplicate. Our 6,000+ sq ft San Antonio workshop has dedicated spray booths with downdraft ventilation, a separate hand-stripping area, climate-controlled drying rooms, and bench space for multiple craftsmen to work without crowding each other. Splitting that across two smaller shops would mean compromising on every piece.
The trade-off is an 80-mile drive between Austin and our shop. We solved that with a dedicated Austin route — pickup and return delivery happen on regular weekly runs in an enclosed, padded truck. Most Austin clients tell us they prefer this over a rushed in-and-out visit from a mobile van: their piece spends 1 to 3 weeks getting full workshop attention, not two hours in a driveway.
The other advantage: a centralized workshop means a deeper bench of specialists. Antique cabinet maker, upholsterer, finisher, and structural repair lead all work in the same building, so a complex piece can move between hands without leaving our care. That is hard to replicate at satellite locations.
Our truck runs Austin every Tuesday, batching pickups and deliveries across the metro. Once your estimate is approved, we book you on the next available Tuesday route. Same-week pickup is usually possible if you call by Friday.
Pickup and return delivery are always included free, no minimum. Whether you have a single chair or a full dining room, transport to and from our San Antonio workshop is on us — bundled onto our weekly Austin route so you never pay for a one-off truck run.
Every piece is photo-documented at pickup, wrapped in custom moving blankets, edge-protected, and ratchet-strapped in our enclosed truck. We carry full transit insurance. Return delivery includes setup in your room of choice and a final walk-through to confirm the finish.
Our route covers Austin proper, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Lakeway, Westlake Hills, Bee Cave, Dripping Springs, Bastrop, Kyle, Georgetown, Hyde Park, South Congress, East Austin, Tarrytown, Mueller, and surrounding neighborhoods within 30 miles of downtown.
Ready to schedule? Call (210) 251-3019 or send photos through our free estimate form. Most Austin clients are scheduled for pickup within 5 business days.
Austin furniture sees a different stress profile than coastal furniture. The biggest factor is the humidity swing: spring brings 70%+ humidity for weeks, then July and August can drop to 25% with 100°F+ heat. That cycle pushes wood through repeated expansion and contraction, which loosens dovetails, opens up panel joints on dressers and dining tables, and cracks finish along grain lines. Most Austin pieces we see for “refinishing” actually need joint re-glue first — the finish failure is a symptom.
The second factor is flash flooding. Austin sits in flash flood alley, and Onion Creek, Shoal Creek, Williamson Creek, and Bull Creek all have flood histories that wreck furniture in finished basements, garages, and ground-floor rooms. Hill country water carries a lot more silt and clay than Gulf coast flooding, which means cleaning is harder — silt embeds in open grain and wicks into joints. Drying matters even more here: wood that takes on flood water and is then exposed to Austin summer heat without controlled drying will warp permanently within days.
Third, the hill country water table affects basements and slab homes in Westlake, Lakeway, and Bee Cave differently than flatter parts of the metro. Limestone substrate means water moves laterally — a leak two houses uphill can wick through your slab and surface as moisture damage on the bottom of casegoods. We see this in Rob Roy and Rollingwood frequently. The fix is usually controlled drying plus a moisture barrier on the underside of the piece, not just refinishing the visible damage.
As Austin's trusted furniture restoration company, Weathersby Guild has been serving Austin homeowners and businesses for over a decade. Whether you need antique furniture restoration, water damage repair after a Hill Country flash flood, or professional upholstery work for a mid-century modern piece, our master craftsmen deliver museum-quality results. We are the Austin furniture repair experts that moving companies, insurance adjusters, and interior designers recommend.

Faculty and alumni families moving to or from Austin frequently bring multi-generation pieces — a great-grandmother's sideboard, a hand-carved chest from a graduate study abroad, a mid-century desk that traveled with a professor for 40 years. Moving stress almost always reveals hairline cracks, loose joints, and shipping rubs that need attention before the piece is set up in a new home.
Original 1920s and 1930s built-in cabinets, breakfast nooks, and pocket doors are some of the most loved features of Austin's historic bungalows — and the most abused by decades of repaint, polyurethane buildup, and amateur stripping attempts. We carefully chemical-strip these pieces, repair veneer, and refinish to a period-appropriate sheen without damaging the underlying old-growth wood.
Austin's love affair with mid-century modern means we see a lot of teak credenzas, walnut dining sets, and Lane Acclaim coffee tables coming out of South Congress, Travis Heights, and East Austin estates. These pieces need a different touch than antiques — original finishes are often shellac or oil, and modern poly will ruin them. We finish MCM pieces with hardwax oils or original-style lacquer.
The Onion Creek and Shoal Creek flood corridors run through Round Rock, southeast Austin, and parts of Pflugerville. After heavy spring rain events, we routinely pick up dressers, dining tables, and antique chests that took on 6 to 18 inches of muddy water. Recovery requires controlled drying (not a fan in the garage), full disassembly, mold treatment, joint re-glue, and refinishing — exactly the work our San Antonio shop is built for.
Austin's booming tech industry means we regularly restore modern office furniture, executive desks, and conference room pieces for startups and Fortune 500 companies. We understand contemporary furniture materials and finishes.

“I reached out to Weathersby to restore a Lane Rhythm chest of drawers and dresser that belonged to my Aunt and Uncle. These pieces were in pretty rough shape with water damage and deteriorated joints. When I picked them up, I was in shock at how beautifully done the restoration was. They blew all of my expectations away!”
- Allison H., San Antonio
“Excellent job by Weathersby Guild. Our church Communion Table is almost 100 years old and was in need of a facelift. The estimate arrived right away, and pick up was arranged. They refinished the table at an excellent price, and quickly, too. The craftsmen did an outstanding job. Both of them are extremely friendly, dedicated, and professional. We would highly recommend Weathersby Guild for your refinishing needs.”

No — pickup and delivery to the Austin metro is always free, no minimum. We bundle Austin pickups onto a weekly route, so transport is included whether your job is a single chair or a full dining set.
Most Austin jobs follow this timeline: pickup on our weekly Austin route (typically Tuesdays), 1 to 3 weeks of restoration work in our San Antonio workshop, then return delivery on the next available Austin route. Total turnaround is usually 2 to 4 weeks. Rush jobs can sometimes be accommodated — call (210) 251-3019 to discuss.
Yes. Our weekly Austin route covers the full metro: Round Rock, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Lakeway, Westlake Hills, Bee Cave, Dripping Springs, Bastrop, Kyle, Georgetown, plus all Austin neighborhoods including Hyde Park, South Congress, East Austin, Tarrytown, and Mueller. If you are within roughly 30 miles of downtown Austin, we serve you.
Yes — most Austin clients prefer this. Send 4 to 6 photos (overall piece, all damaged areas, joints, finish close-ups) to our quote form or text them to (210) 251-3019. We typically reply within 1 business day with a written estimate range. The final quote is confirmed once we inspect the piece in our shop, but photo estimates are accurate for 80%+ of jobs.
Every restoration carries our standard 1-year workmanship warranty against finish failure, joint failure, and structural defects from our work. The warranty applies identically whether you are in Austin or San Antonio — if something goes wrong, we will pick the piece up at no charge on our next Austin route and make it right.
Yes. We work with every major carrier serving Austin including USAA, Texas Farm Bureau, State Farm, Allstate, Liberty Mutual, Travelers, and Chubb. We provide itemized written estimates, damage photos, depreciation schedules, and direct communication with adjusters. Many Austin water-damage claims (Onion Creek, Shoal Creek, plumbing leaks) come to us through carrier referrals.
For high-value pieces or complex projects (estate collections, multi-piece refinishing, museum-quality antiques), we can schedule an in-home consultation in Austin during our weekly route day. Standard consultation fee is $150 and is credited toward the restoration if you proceed. For most jobs, a photo-based estimate is faster and free.
We do not offer in-home refinishing or major repair in Austin — proper finishing requires a controlled environment with dedicated spray booths, dust control, and temperature/humidity regulation. That is exactly why we transport pieces to our San Antonio workshop. The shop environment is what makes the finish quality possible — a mobile van cannot replicate it.
We use a climate-aware enclosed truck with custom moving blankets, edge protectors, and ratchet strapping. Each piece is photo-documented before pickup, padded individually, and secured to prevent shift during the 80-mile drive on I-35. We are fully insured for transit damage. In 12+ years of Austin service, we have a clean transit record.
Our workshop is at 18985 Marbach Lane in San Antonio, TX 78266 — about 80 miles south of Austin. We do not have a physical Austin location. We chose to keep one centralized workshop rather than open multiple smaller shops because it lets us run proper finishing booths, kiln-dry storage, and a full team of specialists in one place. Pickup and delivery from Austin is included so the distance does not affect you.
