Rebuilt for Austin’s Design-Forward, Vintage-Loving Homes
Austin has never thrown away good furniture. The walnut-frame lounge chair from an estate sale off Burnet Road, the teak-arm accent chair rescued from a Hyde Park bungalow, the dining chairs handed down through a Travis Heights family — these pieces deserve a craftsman, not a clearance aisle. Weathersby Guild gives them a complete second life through full strip-and-rebuild chair reupholstery, tailored to the look you actually want.
We specialize in chairs, seats, and small upholstered pieces — not full sofas or sectionals. For larger pieces, we're glad to refer you to a dedicated sofa workroom. That means mid-century modern chair silhouettes preserved to the millimeter, fabric-forward statement chairs for Tarrytown and Westlake living rooms, durable lake-house seating for Lake Travis weekends, ottomans, benches, and dining chairs. Every job runs through our San Antonio workshop, with pickup and delivery handled for you.
On a mid-century chair the line is everything. We tailor fabric directly on the frame rather than sewing to a generic pattern, so welt placement, tight backs, and that low-slung profile come back exactly as the maker intended — never bulked up or boxed out.
Austin clients tend to arrive with a vision. We genuinely welcome customer’s own material — ship us the bolt you fell for, and we handle inspection, yardage, and pattern-matching before a single cut. We also repair worn or torn leather on vintage chairs.
Our workshop is about 80 miles south on Marbach Lane in San Antonio. We collect your chairs from anywhere in the Austin area, rebuild them under controlled conditions, and bring them home finished — so awkward pieces never ride down I-35 in the back of a borrowed truck.
Send photos of your chair from the front, back, and seat. We give you a free written estimate and walk you through fabric — send the COM you found at an Austin shop or talk through options with us. We confirm exact yardage before anything is ordered.
We collect the piece from your Austin home and bring it the roughly 80 miles to our Marbach Lane workshop. There it is completely stripped — old fabric, padding, and webbing removed — so the bare frame and seat can be fully inspected.
Frame repair is included as part of doing the job right. Loose joints are re-glued, weakened rails and legs repaired, and corner blocks added where needed — essential on vintage and mid-century chair frames that have flexed for decades. Nothing is covered back up until the structure is sound.
Webbing and seat support are renewed and tired padding replaced. New high-density foam cores are wrapped in Dacron, with the cushion feel matched to the original — firmer or softer entirely on your call. Worn or torn leather seats are repaired where the chair calls for it.
Fabric is cut, fitted, and stitched directly on the frame so the finished chair keeps its true lines. After a final inspection, we deliver it back to your Austin home — ready for the Hyde Park living room, the Westlake study, or the Lake Travis porch.
Every job is quoted individually after we see the piece and your fabric, but these ranges give Austin clients a realistic starting point for chairs and small upholstered pieces.
We specialize in chairs, seats, and small upholstered pieces — not full sofas or sectionals. For larger pieces, we're glad to refer you to a dedicated sofa workroom. For Austin clients that means mid-century lounge chairs, dining chairs and dining chair seats, accent and side chairs, ottomans, and benches — plus leather repair and upholstery repairs like torn seams, sagging seats, loose or broken frames, legs, rails, chair joints, and webbing. Call (210) 251-3019 or email mark@weathersbyguild.com and we will tell you whether your piece is a fit.
Yes — MCM chair frames are exactly what we love working with. Austin is full of walnut-frame lounge chairs and low-slung accent chairs where the silhouette is the whole point. We strip to the frame, inspect and repair the hardwood joinery, renew the seat support, and tailor new fabric directly on the piece so the original profile, welt placement, and tight cushion lines are preserved. For an honest read on your specific chair, call (210) 251-3019 or email mark@weathersbyguild.com.
Absolutely. Customer's Own Material (COM) is welcome and common with our design-conscious Austin clients. Have your fabric shipped to our San Antonio workshop and we will inspect it for flaws, calculate exact yardage, and pattern-match before any cutting. Send photos of the chair and we will tell you how much yardage you need before you commit.
Our shop sits on Marbach Lane in San Antonio, roughly 80 miles south of central Austin. Austin homeowners and designers choose Weathersby Guild for the same reasons our reviews keep landing at 4.8 stars: every chair reupholstery is a true strip-and-rebuild done with master craftsmanship, frame repair is part of the job rather than an add-on, and the estimate is always free, written, and itemized before any work begins.
Send a few photos of your chair, dining set, or vintage find and we will put together a free, written, itemized estimate — labor, fabric, and any frame repair listed separately. Reach Mark directly at (210) 251-3019 or mark@weathersbyguild.com, and we will arrange pickup from your Austin home.
